Introduction

Magnatree Ventures Pvt. Ltd., a Mumbai-based biotech company, specializes in innovative bio-solutions for wastewater treatment, leachate management, and lake and pond restoration across India. After the success of our pilot project at JVR Lake, GHMC Hyderabad approached us to remediate Upparpally Lake at Rajendra Nagar, Hyderabad, which was suffering from severe pollution.

Initial Conditions

An initial survey revealed:

  1. Presence of debris
  2. Sewage inflow into the lake
  3. Strong foul odor
  4. Blackish, slurry water
  5. High density of mosquitoes
  6. Untreated sludge at the bottom

Pre-Treatment Analysis (28-05-2022):

  • pH: 6.89
  • TSS: 980 mg/L
  • Turbidity: 164 NTU
  • COD: 33,000 mg/L
  • BOD: 12,900 mg/L
  • Ammonia: 750 mg/L

Treatment Process

After approval, Magnatree Ventures Pvt. Ltd. initiated the treatment by applying diluted probiotic enzymes to the lake. These enzymes, prepared using a cow dung base and enriched nutrient concoction, reacted with the pollutants, releasing harmless gases and facilitating the breakdown of contaminants.

Post-Treatment Results

Post-Treatment Analysis (13-07-2022):

  • pH: 6.82
  • TSS: 500 mg/L
  • Turbidity: 98 NTU
  • COD: 600 mg/L
  • BOD: 190 mg/L
  • Ammonia: 26.6 mg/L

Impact

The bio-remediation process led to significant improvements:

  • COD reduction from 33,000 mg/L to 600 mg/L
  • BOD reduction from 12,900 mg/L to 190 mg/L
  • TSS reduction from 980 mg/L to 500 mg/L
  • Ammonia reduction from 750 mg/L to 26.6 mg/L

These results highlight the effectiveness of our probiotic enzyme technology in restoring the ecological balance of polluted water bodies. The successful remediation of Upparpally Lake underscores our commitment to environmental sustainability and innovation.
